Gili Trawangan is the perfect destination for all kinds of holidaymakers; families and honeymooners alike.
The main activity on the islands is scuba diving and chilling out – the laid-back atmosphere of the island is a major part of the attraction. It has a 7 km (4,3 miles) circumference and no roads, just dirt tracks and sandy paths that crisscross the island. It takes 1 hour to walk around the island and 20 min to walk from far end to “town". Island inhabitants number some 1200 people. The Gili locals are also incredibly friendly - by your third day, the women selling fruit on the beach will not only know your name, but whether you prefer mangos or coconuts. Approximately 100 Westerners live permanently on the island. There are no recorded cases of malaria on the island.
